Denise's Green Smoothie
Ingredients: Lots of raw kale Baby spinach 1 tbsp Spirulina 1 tsp of lemon juice 1 ripe banana Honey to taste 1 tbsp hemp hearts 1 tsp chia seeds 8 - 10 ice cubes Non-sweetened almond milk (or cows milk, or any kind of milk you like) and water Scoop of non-fat plain greek yogurt 1/2 of a ripe avocado |
In a blender (or a Vitamix if you're so lucky to have one) put 3 or 4 full handfuls of washed kale and baby spinach. I just use the leaves and throw out the stems because my blender can't grind them up well. Add all ingredients and BLEND IT! I find that by putting the kale in first and the ice on top, without too much milk, the ice helps to break down the kale so that the smoothie is, well, smooth. Too much liquid and it doesn't grind it up as well. If you're using a Vitamix, you don't have to worry about any of that, but my $20 blender from Sears is still doing the trick after 2 years! Drink and enjoy. Best breakfast ever.
